Our year-long exhibition
A(l)ure of the Local
continues to be a popular draw for Londoners. Works from the
permanent collection which demonstrate the growth and development of London as
an urban centre have been used as part of the curriculum for our education
programs as well as were the inspiration for our recent, very successful, Art of
Eating fundraiser in March. Several new works by James Hamilton will be added
this spring, as well as an Orthicon Tube from CFPL (1953), making this an ideal
exhibition to return to often. A(l)ure of the Local continues to
September 5.
Check out our newest program
Appetite for Art,
starting Tuesday, April 13. Featuring 60-minute gallery talks and lunches
inspired by Museum London’s tastiest works, Appetite for Art is a delicious way
to learn more about artworks and artifacts from the Museum's permanent
collection. Lunches start at noon at On The Fork restaurant and will be hosted
by volunteer organizers Diane Thrasher and Susanne Thrasher. Our first lunch
will feature Curator of Art Cassandra Getty speaking about Green Apples by
Paterson Ewen. Space is limited and advance reservations are required five days
prior to the event. Ticket price per person, including tax and lunch is $40.

In April, Executive Director Brian Meehan will be attending the Canadian Art
Museum Directors Association’s 2010 Spring meetings in his role as chair of the
CAMDO board of directors. CAMDO is a national organization that represents
museums across Canada and meets twice annually to discuss such issues as
professional development in the arts, advocacy, as well as the status of
collections across the country. The meeting will be held in Quebec City at the
Musée national des beaux-arts du Quebec.
Spring is here, and with it we start summer hours at Museum London. May 25 to
September 5 the Museum will be open starting at 11:00 am—one hour more to enjoy
exhibitions and programs.
